What is TradeWatch?

TradeWatch is a material price alert service for contractors and tradespeople. You pick the materials you buy, set the price that matters to your quote, and we notify you the moment it crosses — so you stop checking prices all day and never get caught by a spike after you have locked in a quote.

Which materials and trades does it cover?

50+ materials across 9 categories: metals (copper, aluminum, steel), lumber and panels, concrete and masonry, roofing, drywall and insulation, plumbing (PEX, PVC, copper pipe), electrical, HVAC and refrigerant, and fuel and sitework (diesel, gasoline, propane). It suits plumbers, electricians, HVAC techs, roofers, framers, concrete crews and general contractors.

How do I get alerted?

By email and by push notification on your phone or computer. Set a target price on each material; when the price crosses it, you get the alert.

How much does it cost?

Plans are in Canadian dollars with no GST/HST added at checkout: $49 per month, $129 every 3 months, or $490 per year. The annual plan works out to about $41 a month — two months free compared with paying monthly. There is no free trial.

Where do the prices come from?

TradeWatch checks public sources every hour. Fuel and metals such as diesel, gasoline, copper and aluminum use daily market prices; most building materials are estimated from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics producer-price indexes (via FRED), which are published monthly. Prices are indicative benchmarks in U.S. units, not supplier quotes — always confirm with your supplier before you quote or buy.

Add leads — generate sample data

Fake businesses for demoing the funnel — reserved 555-01xx numbers and @example.com addresses, so they can never reach a real business even by accident.

Pull from Google Maps

Real businesses via Google's official Places API — not scraping. Needs GOOGLE_PLACES_API_KEY in .env (a paid API); no-ops with a clear error until that's set. Capped at 10/trade/day either way.

Import leads

Paste a CSV (with a header row) or a JSON array — from a list you obtained compliantly.

Recognized columns: business/company/name, contact, email, phone, trade/category, city, website/url, address/street.
